Case Setup

The victim and how everyone came to be trapped together.

The gathering at Merylewood

Daniel Meryle, ever the charismatic host and heir to the Meryle estate, sent gilt-edged invitations promising an unforgettable winter weekend. Old friends, business rivals, family hangers-on, and curious new acquaintances arrived to find Merylewood Mansion dressed for a lavish celebration: roaring fires, staff at attention, and the clink of crystal under chandeliers. Daniel moved from guest to guest that first evening, hinting at a grand announcement that would “change the fortunes of everyone in this room.” The tension between the guests—debts owed, grudges carried, secrets whispered—ran just beneath the surface, masked by champagne and polite laughter.

As the snow thickened outside and the roads became impassable, the guests realized they were effectively sealed inside. Shortly after midnight, the festivities shattered: Daniel was found dead. Panic spread through the halls. With no way out until the storm clears, every guest is both witness and suspect. The group agreed to call the police—but that’s where you come in. “Welcome Detective,” utters retired detective Drake MacinTyre. The estate’s opulence now feels like a gilded cage—each room holds a clue, each acquaintance a motive, and everyone is forced to confront what they truly know about one another.
